South Carolina Lakes Lake Greenwood
Lake Greenwood, with its dam and power plant, was one of many Public Works Administration projects undertaken to improve the nation's infrastructure and relieve massive unemployment during the Great Depression. Since 1940 the lake has provided recreation, electricity, and a reliable water supply for all to enjoy.
The lake serves as the dividing line between
Greenwood County and
Laurens County and extends south into
Newberry County.
