Spartanburg County Landrum
Located at the junction of US 176 and SC 14, Landrum is the most northwestern town in
Spartanburg County. It is only a few miles from the
Greenville County line to the west and the North Carolina border to the north.
In the mid 1700s, the the town was known as Earlesville for the Earle family who owned much of the land in this sparsely populated part of the state.
When the railroad planned a route through the area in the late 1800s, the Reverend John Landrum donated four acreas of land that his wife, Nancy Earle Landrum, had inherited from her family for the railroad depot. The train station was named Landrum and soon, Earlesville officially became known as Landrum.
