Union County Library
Carol Gant of Rock Hill

"Union's library is the oldest Carnegie Library in South Carolina still standing. It was built in 1905 with a $10,000 gift from Andrew Carnegie with the agreement that the citizens raise the remaining amount and care for its upkeep. The citizens bought the lot and raised $3,500. This library was named the Best Small Library in America by the Library Journal in 2007."
Buffalo Mill
Ann L. Helms of Spartanburg

"The Buffalo Mill was just one of many textile mills built in South Carolina during the early to mid-1900s. Construction on the mill began in 1900, and the office was built in 1902. The engineering firm belonging to W.B. Smith Whaley designed this and many of the textile plants across the state. While the mill is slowly being demolished, the office has been restored."
Union County Courthouse
Chris Austin of Charlotte, NC

"As you can see, the courthouse is an impressive feature on Main Street in the City of Union, the seat of Union County. In the early days of World War I, Union County was the only county in the nation that did not have a draft because its draft quotas were filled by volunteers. The county was named for the old Union church, which was so named because it served both Presbyterian and Episcopal congregations."

Cudd Lane
Lara Ann Whitehead of Jonesville

"This picture is actually in my backyard. I was on the way out the door to work one cold morning and looked up and saw this! I immediately ran and got my camera. It is one of my favorite shots."
On The Range
Alana West of Newberry

"When you live in rural South Carolina, scenes like this one can be taken for granted. But there was just something about these green pastures and grazing cows that made me stop, take a deep breath, and thank God that I'm a country girl. This picture is the scene that my in-laws see every time they look out their back kitchen window in Kelton, a community in Union County, South Carolina."
Union County Museum
Chris Austin of Charlotte, NC

"The Union County Museum, located on Main Street in the City of Union, collects, displays, and archives genealogical and historical materials related to the area. During the Revolutionary War Musgrove Mill, Fishdam Ford, and Blackstock Battlefield were the sites of significant battles. Later, railroads and cotton mills formed the county's economic base."
