Cheers & Customs
- Sir Paladin and Fury: At home games, one of the most exciting moments is when Sir Paladin storms the field. According to David, a loyal Furman fan from Travelers Rest, "Sir Paladin is a knight in historically-accurate, fully functional armor, riding atop a white steed with purple drapery. As the Furman football team is about to take the field, Sir Paldin charges across the gridiron at full speed, [brandishing] his sword or lance. At one home game some years ago, an actual jousting exhibition was presented at halftime. Many fans of visiting teams unfamiliar with Furman are surprised when they see Sir Paladin galloping across the gridiron at full tilt. Furman forever!"
- High Expectations: "Furman football blends the talents of an academically-focused college environment with a tradition of athletic success, especially on the football field," says Alan, a Furman University fan from Pawleys Island. He says that watching Furman football "is a wonderful experience for all ages. The Paladin mascot is chanted for with the anticipation of each Furman score, and the feared cheer heard every Saturday is 'FU One Time, FU All THE TIME!'"
