Charleston Public Schools
- Charleston County School District
Charleston County School District is the second largest school system in South Carolina. It serves more than 48,000 students in 84 schools and several specialized programs. CCSD offers many types of school programs – including neighborhood schools, charter schools, magnet schools, IB (international baccalaureate) schools, and Montessori schools. With approximately 6,000 employees, the Charleston County School District is the fourth largest employer in the Charleston region.

- Charleston Catholic School
This parochial school teaches Charleston students in grades of 4K-8.
- Charleston Day School
Charleston Day School accepts pupils in grades 1 through 8.
- First Baptist Church School
This parochial school serves students in grades 3K-12. Note that this school is currently based on Meeting Street in Downtown Charleston but will soon relocate to James Island.
- Mason Preparatory School
Commonly known as Mason Prep, this private school accepts Charleston students in grades 1-8.
- Meeting Street Academy
This private, college prep school serves students in grades 3K-5 whose famililes would not otherwise be able to afford private school. The academy also offers another private school in Spartanburg and a public school in North Charleston.

- Charleston Collegiate School
Charleston Collegiate School – formerly called Sea Island Academy – is the only private school on Johns Island. It accepts students in grades 4K-12.
Mount Pleasant Private Schools
- Christ Our King Stella Maris School
This school offers a Christian curriculum and serves students in pre-kindergarten through grade 8.
- Coastal Christian Preparatory School
Located in Mount Pleasant's Old Village, Coastal Christian Prep is affiliated with First Baptist Church and accepts students in grades 2K-12.
- Crown Leadership Academy
STEAM certified, Crown Leadership Academy is a private, Christian school serving students in grades K-12.
- Montessori School of Mount Pleasant
Montessori of Mount Pleasant was established as a Montessori AMS School in 1987 and serves children ages 3-6.
- Palmetto Christian Academy
Palmetto Christian Academy is an accredited college preparatory school accepting students from pre-K through 12th grade.
- Sundrops Montessori School
This Montessori school has four campuses in the East Cooper area with programs serving children from 6 weeks to 12 years.
- Trident Academy
This accredited private school focuses on cognitively capable children diagnosed with dyslexia, dysgraphia, dyscalculia, ADHD, or Asperger-like attributes.
