Jones Gap State Park, South Carolina – Middle Saluda River
|
This picture of the Middle Saluda River was taken at Jones Gap State Park by Deborah Davis, who lives in Oconee County.
Deborah is an avid hiker who is out on a hike almost every weekend. She describes the trail where she took the photo above: "It follows the river almost the entire way and you take a short detour up to the falls. The hike is beautiful and rich in wildflowers and small streams joining the river. We took in our dogs, and a lunch which we ate on a boulder at the river's edge. The area is clean and pristine and most enjoyable for adults and children alike."
Jones Gap State Park is located in the northwestern part of the state, right on the border with North Carolina and is about 30 miles from Greenville. It is adjacent to Caesars Head State Park and is part of the Mountain Bridge State Natural Area.
