SC Coast, South Carolina – Octopus Pot Retrieval
|
Octopus are caught with habitat-type traps, called pots. As octopus naturally seek natural crevices and underwater structures to use as dens, the drainage pipes used for pots provide them with an ideal home. The pots are strung along a line that rests on the sea floor for about three days, then are brought back up by reeling in the main line with a mechanical winch.
